Why PC is better to make commercial refrigerator flow equalization net than PVC?

The through-hole plastic honeycomb core is an ideal structure for the air curtain of the refrigerated display cabinet. We need to consider the below factors for the material choosing:

 

Environmental adaptability:Refrigerated display cabinets need to adapt to low-temperature environments, and the materials used should be cold resistant and stable.

Strength and Durability: The material needs to be able to withstand frequent opening and closing and the weight of cargo to ensure stability and durability under long-term use.

Cost and Maintenance: Consider the cost of materials and maintenance, and choose cost-effective materials.

Environmental requirements: The materials should comply with environmental standards, especially in environments that may contain food. They should also be non-toxic and harmless.

 

Both PC and PVC can be used to make through-hole honeycomb cores. The structures of the two are as follows:

In addition to the difference in the cell-open structure, PC is more suitable for refrigeration vents than PVC.

The reasons mainly include the following:

1.  Impact resistance and transparency:

PC: It has excellent impact resistance, is not easy to break, and is safer. At the same time, it has high transparency, good light transmittance, and can maintain gloss for a long time, which enables it to provide better vision and ventilation effects in the refrigeration vents.

PVC: While polyvinyl chloride is durable, it is more brittle and tends to crack or break under impact, especially at lower temperatures.

2.    Low temperature resistance:

PC material: It can maintain stable performance in low-temperature environments, suitable for refrigerated environments, and the operating temperature range is -40℃ to +135℃.

PVC material: The use range is roughly -15℃ to 55℃. It is prone to ageing and deformation under long-term use or high-temperature environments and may release harmful gases, which is not good in refrigeration vents.

3.    Environmental protection:

PC material is environmentally friendly, can be recycled, and meets the requirements of sustainable development. In contrast, PVC material may impact the environment during production and use.

PVC material is relatively stable and harmless at normal temperature and pressure, but it may decompose and release toxic hydrogen chloride gas under high temperatures. This gas is highly corrosive and irritating, and it may affect the respiratory tract, eyes, and skin.

4.    Cost:

PC: Generally more expensive than PVC, but its superior properties often justify the cost in demanding applications. 

PVC is more cost-effective but compromises on performance, particularly in terms of durability and low-temperature flexibility.
